Historically the building is known as the Ingenhuett-Faust hotel. Designed by noted architect Alfred Giles and built for Peter Joseph Ingenhuett, it is now called The Comfort Common. Featured in articles by magazines and major newspapers such as Travel and Leisure, Southern Living, Country Home, Texas Highways, Texas Monthly, The Houston Chronicle, and The Dallas Morning News, The Comfort Common has been lovingly restored to its original grandeur. Today, the magnificent structure is home to an exquisite B&B and a complex of antique shops. The grounds of the structure are surrounded with period outbuildings of architectural styles ranging from log cabins to Victorian cottages to early Texas barns. Owners Jim Lord and Bobby Dent welcome guests to roam the old rooms within the hotel where tastefully displayed American country antiques, quilts, rugs, pottery and accessories bid that they be taken away. A stroll through the courtyard encourages rest inside the c. 1894 gazebo while a walk through fragrant gardens of healthful herbs and flowers beckons from across a picket fence. Here you will find antique and reproduction garden items such as; garden tools, bee skeps, watering cans, buckets, garden markers, and garden accessories. A winding path leads to the cluster of outbuildings, each home to unique shops where treasures such as antique architectural pieces can be found. |
