  • Built in 1891 for T.C. Stewart, the treasurer of the New Orleans Grand Opera House, this large Eastlake Victorian Cottage has oversized guest rooms, with red pine floors, fireplaces and 12 ft. ceilings. During the Depression years, the property was owned by the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament and was a safehaven for the less fortunate people of the area. St. Katherine Drexel, who was canonized by Pope John Paul II, as the second American saint owned this house from 1929-1946. She visited the property several times to visit with the tenants occupying it in the 1930's. ch Quarter, Tulane and Loyola Universities, Audubon Park and the Riverbend area.
