Reviews: I highly recommend Mary W's B&B. She's both an excellent hostess and a terrific source of information on Montreal. We had a wonderful visit, our first time to Montreal, and we both agree we would not have had such an enjoyable time and gotten as much out of the trip without Mary as a source of information and hospitality. The comfortable accommodations, the delicious breakfast served in style, an excellent location and the local flavor made the whole trip a success.
Mary W's Bed & Breakfast: "Cozy, Friendly, and Uplifting" April 21, 2005: A TripAdvisor Member, Long Island, New York piness out of pleasing her guests, and she really knows how to. You only need to hint your ideas to her and she knows what to do from there. She is like a nanny, maid (since things are spotless when one comes home from a day's adventure), advisor, and friend. She brings breakfast to your roome each morning (while you stay in your pjs) and she offers to take you on a personal tour of the city. We saw the ins and outs better than we could with any tour bus. Her location is convenient, and I much preferre d the rejuvinating atmosphere there to ones I've found in impersonal and stressful hotels. Mary W's is definitly a great place to stay.
Wow, Mary! You've hopelessly spoiled us with your hospitality. Thanks for advice on what not to miss while in Montreal. We look forward to returning & sharing more laughs. ry special vacation for us! The tour, amazing breakfasts, the very French dinner together - all amazing. You are like the family member we all wish we had to visit! Blessings to you and all you attempt, may your life be filled with joy... ace, Great Stay, Beautiful Food and Wonderful Company. Thank you for all of your kindness and the things you do that are so unexpected. Thanks for all of your help and I loved the day out. ot the ones we seek, but those that simply happen, and I can't imagine finding a more gracious, open, or attentive host - not in a hundred days of seeking. How fortunate I stumbled across your internet posting! The breakfasts were lovely, the tour was an ideal way to start, and I can't say enough about the many ways you aided my research.
Montreal: Mary W's Bed & Breakfast: "A French Country-house-feel in the Heart of Montreal" May 8, 2005: A TripAdvisor Member, Richmond, Virginia I stayed at this hotel in: April, 2005 I traveled to this hotel by myself business travelers, couples and romantics, honeymooners, singles, active/adventure travelers, tourists My visit was for: out-of-town getaway Would I stay at this location again: absolutely! y, French-country-style suite. She has a sparkle in her eye as she delivers breakfast with a sense of presentation -- and she can turn on her informational side at the slightest nod. If you want to return home with mementos specific to Montreal -- whether apparel at discount shops, antiques or Montreal wine, she can either tell you where to find the items -- or, better yet, take you there. urce and a host who clearly makes it her job to keep up on everything going on in her city.
May, 2005 My visit was for an extended vacation Would I stay at this location again: absolutely! , comfy and central. ty. Meeting Mary W. I was reminded that at one time there were Guides not guidebooks...Mary is an authentic Baedecker of Montreal places big and small. In her company I found delicious local spiceries, handmade beads, cozy old taverns with rich Montreal fare, old-world espresso, the sweetest strolls, toy store, hobby shops, etc... Open up to Mary and she'll open up Montreal to you. She loves this city and that is apparent in how she guides her visitors. rtantly: it is so comfortable. Secondarily, it is charming. An immense French armoire (who carried it up the stairs?!) with silvered mirrors, a petite secretary desk, original moldings on the window/door frames and ceiling...the beautiful prints around the home by Antoin Corbijn, Diego Rivera... And the bed is wide and lush...terribly relaxing. Finally, breakfasts are outstanding. I continue to copy one of Mary's special poached egg variations. e or what you're interested in trying. Mary W. is an outstanding Montreal hostess and wonderfully relaxing and comfortable to be around.
Gracias muchas gracias dona Mary. Uste hizo mi estadia en montreal placentera con su toque personal. Su tour es el meyor y personal que he hecho. Continue asi.
Came to Montreal from Germany for a one-week conference on Cancer Research and thanks to you I got to see the 'real' Montreal as well as relax in a cozy, peaceful and lovely room...my colleagues, who stayed in a hotel, were jealous after they came to see me at your place! I'll be back one day.
We had such a great time. Thank you so much for your beautiful spirit - it is so refreshing to see your joy and your spirit extended to others through your open home.
It has been wonderful knowing you and staying at your delightful little B&B. I think I have seen more of Montreal than I would have otherwise because you took the time to show me the real Montreal.
Our lodging for the next two nights was in Mary W's Bed and Breakfast. The accommodations in Montreal range from five star large chain hotels to local unassuming B & Bs. Each has its own flair and amenities, with a Bed and Breakfast being known for its charm, intimacy and personal touch. Well little did we know at the outset of this trip the extent of the personal touch we would receive from our host Mary! While at the Atwater Market our plans were to head back towards Old Montreal in order to retrieve our luggage being held at the first hotel. (Remember, usually the hotels will hold luggage for a time even though you have checked out.) We called Mary to tell her we would be a little later than expected and before we could argue further, Mary, a fellow Brooklynite, came to pick us up, drove us to the luggage and brought us back to her B & B. All the while Mary pointed out sights, answered questions and even reminisced with us about the "Old Neighborhood." Ah, there's no one quite like a Brooklynite! B & B is located on the third floor of a three story, Grey stone walk-up, built in the 1890's. The entry is typical Montreal French Style with a high (about 45 degree angle) sloping metal stairway, leading to her distinct purple door. Mary furnished a rather large room with period furniture and opened her home and her heart to visitors. She prides herself on the personal service she provides to her guests, as evidenced to us by the door-to-door service. Those looking for anonymity that a larger venue provides should not try a small home based B & B.?
